Eat, Drink and Be Green

If you’ve ever wondered about the relationship between the color green and St. Patrick’s Day, there are varying interpretations. Some say the color green is related to spring, shamrocks and the green found on the Irish flag.

On the ever-popular St. Patrick’s Day, when people traditionally don green garments and eagerly consume green beer and other green beverages, why not add a new dimension to your celebrations by taking green action:

Eat green – Forgo processed food in favor of fresh fruits and veggies from local growers.

Imbibe green – Use tap water at all of your St Patty’s day events.

Travel green – Take public transportation, ride your bike, or carpool.

Buy green – Purchase a plant, tree, reusable bags, or other eco-friendly gifts for your friends and family.

Demonstrate green – Pick up trash and recyclables throughout the day and put them in their proper place.

Talk green – Talk about eco-friendly topics with your friends and colleagues.

Work green – Print only what you need and use recycled-content paper; unplug your PDA and cell phone chargers when not in use.
