NCNCA racing moved into full gear this weekend with the hugely popular Cherry Pie Criterium. The Women’s 1, 2, 3 race featured strong representation from most regional teams as well as a few national teams. Brooke Miller (TIBCO) won as expected, defending her title. Felicia Gomez (Aarons) came in 2nd with Virginia Perkins (Proman) rounding out the podium in 3rd. It was GREAT to see Virginia riding so strong and bodes well for her performance at the Amgen ToC Women's Criterium next Monday, not to mention the rest of the season. You look great in your new team's colors Virginia :) -- and yes, I stole the photo. Sorry! Next time I hope to be there with my camera.Speaking of the rest of the season, it appears as if team High Road's women's team will be living in Nor Cal the next few months and lining up at most of the local races! It should spice things up in the Women's P/1/2 field. Nothing like a few UCI team riders (Ina-Teutenberg, Alex Rhodes, Mara Abbott, etc.) to ratchet the racing up a notch early in the season.
