Stop murdering people

The Burmese government is murdering its own people by letting them die.

In order to maintain the appearance of being in control, Burma's junta has seized and impounded two plane-loads of U.N. food shipments, prompting the world body to suspend further help. The food is sitting in a warehouse and not in trucks heading to Irrawaddy Delta where it is critically needed. The state-run media in Burma has shown countless images of generals handing out food and surveying damage, footage that is meant to reinforce the notion that the military is in control. They are trying to show the people that you have to rely on us, the government, not foreigners.

Burma's government acknowledged taking control of the shipments and said it plans to distribute the aid "without delay by its own labor to the affected areas."

The clock is ticking for survivors. At this point, they need more than food. They have been cut off and helpless for seven days and are surrounded by tens of thousands of rotting corpses. What they really need is the corpses to be moved, clean water, shelter and efforts to start rebuilding the devastated infrastructure.
