If you do not have, or have never had a shoulder injury, this blog will probably get old pretty quickly since shoulders seem to be all that I think and write about these days.
Problem identification update:
1. I am going in for an MRI at 7:00 AM tomorrow. Dr. Dreamy will probably never speak to me for going around his back and getting authorization from my PCP, but c'est la vie. There is NO WAY that I was waiting three weeks for an MRI. Hopefully the images will provide further clues as to what exactly is going on.
2. I was able to snag an appointment with Dr. Zarins next week in Boston! I saw Dr. Zarins back in 1985 for a fractured knee cap. He is probably one of the leading orthopedic surgeon's in the world.
Check out this guy's resume, he is an orthopedic god:
Dr. Bertram Zarins has been the New England Revolution's head team physician since the team's inception in 1996. He is Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Sports Medicine Service at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Zarins also has been team physician for the New England Patriots since 1982 and the Boston Bruins since 1976. He served on the U. S. Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Council for 12 years and was Head Physician for the XIV Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in l984.
Dr. Zarins is an orthopedic surgeon and specializes in the treatment of athletic injuries. He is a specialist in the treatment of injuries to the knee and shoulder and in arthroscopic surgery. He specializes in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and other knee ligament and cartilage injuries. He also is an expert in the treatment of shoulder rotator cuff injuries and shoulder instability (dislocations and subluxations).
His office looks like a sports hall of fame.
I hate to be snooty about it, but if it is determined that I need surgery, I am getting on a plane and going back to Boston so that Dr. Zarins can do the procedure. Thank god for frequent flyer miles.
However, several friends reminded me today that "SURGERY SHOULD BE THE LAST RESORT."
Duly noted.

don't worry, we love to read and talk about shoulders.
you should start posting photos of your doctors
ha ha. Good idea!
It should be the last resort, but on the other hand, if these doctors are single, it could be worth it. I mean, it seems way more extreme than match.com, but if you can fix the shoulder simultaneously, it could be win-win.
