Shasta here I come!

There will be no Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival for me this weekend as I am heading up to Mt Shasta for the Mt Shasta Hill climb on Sunday. It's a mass start race that's limited to 200 riders. The race climbs for 14 miles to the old Mt. Shasta Ski Bowl for 4,100 ft of elevation gain (3600-7700').

Apparently the average grade is 5.5% with sections at 7%. Sounds pretty easy to me as long as the altitude is not a factor. Weather.com is forecasting a high of 91 degrees, however, temperatures at the finish are supposed to be in the 30's! Luckily there will be a sag car to carry extra clothing to the top for the descent which I imagine will be chilly.

Hopefully it will be warm and sunny after the race and I can search out a lake or water hole for some late summer fun. This time I am definitely packing my bikini.
