I shouldn't complain

Honestly, while things with my shoulder are definitely out of whack, my problems are minuscule in comparison to what's going on with my Dad. He is scheduled for carotid artery surgery on Monday, which is why I am going back to Boston.

Carotid artery disease occurs when the major arteries in your neck become narrowed or blocked. These arteries (carotid arteries) supply your brain with blood. Arteries are normally smooth and unobstructed on the inside, but as you age, a sticky substance (plaque) can build up in the walls of the arteries. As more plaque builds up, arteries narrow and stiffen. Eventually, when enough plaque builds up to reduce or disturb blood flow through the carotid arteries, physicians call this problem carotid artery disease. Carotid artery disease is a serious health problem because it can cause a stroke!

The good news: Apparently the surgical procedure is safe and long lasting.

What's most perplexing is that my Father is an incredible athlete and eats really well. It just goes to show you how important it is to get your cholesteral checked.

Getting old sucks. There is no question about it.

Fingers crossed my Dad's surgery is a HUGE success!
