Weekend rant

You know the drill. You are riding across the bridge on any given day and some tourist with a saddle bag on their bike is rubber necking it and can't hold their line. The next thing you know they are weaving into your lane. You scream attention, watch out, hold your line or some inappropriate expletive. Caught off guard by your voice, the tourist stiffens, wobbles and moves back over against the guard rail. On any given weekend, there must be a least a dozen bicycle accidents that happen on the bridge.

The other day, I was coming down Alexander into Sausalito and the girl in front of me lost it on her bike, fell over and almost took me out. I do not know how many bicycle accidents occur on or near the Golden Gate Bridge, but I think the bicycle rental companies should provide tourists with a one hour bike handling basics 101 course before unleashing them on bay area roads and bridges. It would be best for their safety and the safety of others.
