Crazy Busy

My Mom gave me this great book for Christmas: Crazy Busy by Edward M. Hallowell, M.D. There is an interesting section in the book on "Screensucking," which is defined as "wasting time engaging with any screen - for instance, computer, video game, television, or Blackberry."

"Screen sucking is a difficult problem to solve, because it is done unintentionally. To combat it, you need to be aware that you are susceptible to it every time you log on or switch on. It's similar to drinking alcohol: Once you start, you need to be careful how much you consume. Insight can lead to moderation. If the problem becomes severe, you can put an alarm clock next to the device and set it off at the time you want to disconnect."

Maybe that's what I need to do -- put an alarm clock by the computer to limit the time I spend surfing the Internet, reading cycling articles, writing emails, checking out people's blogs and posting new blog entries. I wonder if 20 minutes per day is a reasonable limit?

Will setting an alarm make my life less crazy busy? I wonder.

he he. I like to fly under the radar screen. I think someone needs a spanking for letting the cat out of the bag.

my 2 yr old daughter Maya (e's niece) picked up a baby gameboy, if you will, at the playground 2 days ago. I couldn't get her to put the thing down and get back to the slide, AND she figured it ALL out in moments! Frightening, they really do have brains of a PhD!!!
