Where are the pants

when you need them? The CRC girls had a great day today down at Fort Ord. This was by far and away the hardest race that I have done all season. When we arrived it was cold, foggy and windy. I don't remember there being so many rollers. Did I mention that it was really windy? I hate the wind. Lance loves the wind. I wish I was more like Lance. After the race Andrea told me that I did a poor job of following wheels and did 2X as much work as everyone else. That must be why it hurt so much. I am such a LOSER. Maybe I should give up cycling and take up needlepoint. I felt tired. My legs felt tired. The field was tiny. It was difficult to find protection. I wanted to quit every lap.

Somehow I found my legs on the final hill. It's too bad they moved the finish line this year. The sun finally came out and I regretted not applying sun block. I now have a sun burn, more freckles, deeper tan lines and a 0.0001% more likely chance of getting melanoma.

Anyway, it was a great day for the CRC girls. Virginia came in 3rd in the W 1/2/3 race. She continues to lay down the smack this season. Nice!! Birgit came in 2nd in the W4 race, which hopefully means she has enough points to cat up as she is racing as strong, if not stronger, than most 3's. Bridgette came in 6th in the W3 race and I somehow pulled off 2nd. A fine showing by the CRC girls.

Good luck to everyone racing Timpani tomorrow.

Many thanks to Russ and Mark for their support in the feed zone!

Velo Promo = no podium.

i have to say, i usually don't mind VeloPromo being low budget and no frills.

... but, for the District Championships? I almost think it's time to start awarding that event to a club/team/group that will kick it into a high profile, swanky-ass soiree ~ you know?

i mean, we have the best district in the country for road racing (re: consistent, varied courses throughout the year)... we should highlight the Championships.

sigh.

and i still covet those pantaloonies.

Great idea about the District Championships. Maybe the soon to be reincarnated, new (insert name of Safeway replacement sponsor) team, could sponsor the event next year. It could be a nice carrot to offer potential new sponsors, no?
